SC Paderborn 07 fortified their defensive ranks on Tuesday with the acquisition of Nyamekye Awortwie-Grant. The 25-year-old center-back makes the jump to the newly promoted Bundesliga side following a stint with FC Energie Cottbus.

The 1.93-meter-tall defender arrives on the back of a commanding campaign in the 3. Liga, having anchored the Cottbus backline across 33 league fixtures, alongside appearances in the DFB Cup and Brandenburg Cup.

Paderborn’s sporting director, Sebastian Lange, identified the newcomer as a high-upside addition to the squad. "Nyame attracted attention with outstanding performances in the third division last season." Lange noted, specifically highlighting the player’s rare combination of recovery speed, physical engagement, and agility.

The club’s leadership is confident that Awortwie-Grant is prepared to transition his game to the elite level of German football. "Despite the quality he has already demonstrated, he still possesses enormous potential for development – ​​to establish himself with us in the Bundesliga," Lange explained.
