Xabi Alonso names 7 'untouchable' Chelsea stars; Enzo out

Following his appointment as Chelsea manager, Xabi Alonso has identified a core group of contracted players to lead his project at Stamford Bridge. Notably, Enzo Fernandez does not appear to be among them.

The 2025/2026 campaign concluded with a disappointing tenth-place finish in the Premier League, meaning Chelsea will be absent from the Champions League next season. This reality has not deterred Alonso, who has agreed to take charge of the reigning Club World Cup winners. While the club anticipates several high-profile additions, the new manager is focused on securing the commitment of seven specific players ahead of preseason training.

According to Simon Johnson for The Athletic, Chelsea have designated the following seven players as non-transferable this summer: "Reece James, Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo, Levi Colwill, Estevao, Joao Pedro and Josh Acheampong."

This stance serves as positive news for the club, provided there is a mutual desire to continue the partnership. However, the omission of World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez from this list is a surprising development, one that will inevitably fuel speculation regarding a potential move to Real Madrid or Arsenal.
